Considered as one of the city’s landmarks, the Harris Theater is claimed to be the first venue in the city to screen solely ‘Art Movies’. A lot has changed since the theater was founded 1931, having undergone a series of renovations and ownership changes. After its final major refurbishment in 1995 the theater was renamed to The Harris and since then it has been one of the prime cinema hubs in the city. The theater now specializes in independent and foreign films, but also hosts occassional lecture series, recitals, live performances and experimental theater.
